Hey guys, I'm back from my five-day trip to Iceland! And before I bombard you with a deluge of posts, I wanted to share my Instagram photos.
In short, Iceland fascinated me. The people were kind, artistic, and quirky, and very proud of their Viking heritage. Reykjavik was delightfully hipster, with excellent coffee and no shortage of man buns. Surprisingly, Icelandic food was excellent – I've never had better lamb or smoked fish.
But I especially fell in love with Iceland's diverse landscapes. One moment we were passing craggy green cliffs and black sand beaches, the next we were driving through fields so bleak and rocky they might as well be Mars. And of course, the waterfalls blew my mind.
Despite the short trip, my travel buddy Adam and I covered a lot of ground. My favorite adventures were road-tripping the south-coast, scuba-diving between the North American and European tectonic plates, and almost getting bucked off a sassy Icelandic horse.
Unfortunately my wifi SD card wasn't working (ughhh) so many of these photos were taken on my iPhone. Though funny enough the top-liked photos were all iPhone – go figure.
Without further ado, the best of Iceland via Instagram!
Scuba diving with @scubaiceland at the Silfra Fissure in Iceland! The Silfra Fissure is actually a crack between the Eurasian and North American continents. The water comes from a nearby glacier, which is why it is so crystal clear (and drinkable!). I can't remember the last time I was so cold – or so happy to be diving!
Meet Gloth, the beautiful but slightly crazy Icelandic horse I rode today. About two minutes into the ride she started galloping and nearly bucked me 😱. But near death aside, it was incredible riding her. Icelandic horses have a fifth gait, called a tölt, which is like a gentle trot in which you don't have to post. Fellow horse lovers, get yourselves to Iceland – it's a riding experience like nowhere else! 🐴
